Little Bead Boxes

Wow I have finally made at least one of every design in Julia Pretl's book Little Bead Boxes.

It started back in July of 2008 when Julia was teaching at Bead Junction in Toronto.
My very first box
Second box where I made it taller by repeating pattern
My variations of the triangle boxes in the book
My variations of the square boxes in the book
My variations of the pentagon boxes in the book
My variations of the hexagon boxes in the book
Here are some additional finished projects from patterns purchased on Julia's website.
Owl box with no lid, great for pens and pencils
Olive box with Swarovski crystal finial that look like an olive pit
Fir tree without the decorations for Christmas
I have truly enjoyed making the many boxes in the book. It came along in my beading life just when I was craving to make something more that jewellry.

Thanks Julia you have truly broaden my beading world.

  2. Congratulations!! I had no idea you had made so many variations of a few unique styles. Like how you presented collages of each style for comparison. Wonder what Julia has to say...

    1. I did the flower pentagon box back in 2008 - http://itsabeadifulcreation.blogspot.ca/2008/10/beadwork-boxes.html . I will have to see if I can find my notes as I changed the colours from those listed in the book.

    2. Oh well, I hope it was ok to ask. Only if you run across your notes - I don't want you to look too hard for the information. Thank you!

    3. I remembered that I had put the colour numbers in a note on the image file. I changed all the colours from those that Julia listed in the book. I used A - 873, B - 362, C - 727, D - 753, E - 1484, F - 373, G - 352, and H - 203. If you have any questions please email me jlwoolverton@yahoo.ca.

    4. That is really wonderful! Thank you for digging out that information for me.
I could tell that your colors were different from Julia's. Since I prefer jewel tones to the subtle pastels, I think I like your colors more. I will make note of the colors you used. Thanks again!
